This pre-owned Japanese obi fabric features a vivid red color with a woven geometric pattern inspired by traditional kikko, or tortoiseshell, motifs.
Although the textile is rendered entirely in red, variations in the weave create fine stripes, checks, texture, and depth. Its appearance changes subtly with the angle of the light, revealing an elegant sheen and richly dimensional surface.
The fabric may be used for making an obi, depending on your intended construction and required measurements. It is also suitable for handbags, pouches, Japanese-style accessories, table runners, wall hangings, interior decoration, textile art, sewing, and other remake or craft projects.
